1)HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN TATTOOING? WHAT WAS THE MAIN REASON BEHIND THE CHOICE TO BECOME A TATTOOER?
I have been tattooing professionally since 2015. Before that, I had spent a couple of years learning by myself drawing and tattooing some friends so that I could understand this kind of art.
Being a tattoo artist was not always my career though. By the time I came to the UK, I was a qualified graphic designer in Spain so I started doing an internship in graphic design to gain some work experience in London because that was what I wanted to do for a living. However, one friend of mine who I used to do graffiti with when we were younger and was already a tattoo artist, encouraged me to get into tattooing. I really loved the idea of people having my own draws in their bodies so they could show my art to others as this was also the essence of doing graffiti on walls when I was a teenager.
2)WHAT ARE YOUR INFLUENCES/ WHO INSPIRES YOU THE MOST?
Some of my influences are, among others, Art Nouveau, middle age illustration, japanese classic art, old school tattoos, anime and esoteric images.
3)CAN YOU TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR JOURNEY TO YOUR CURRENT STYLE?
My style has changed a lot since I started painting graffiti and right now it is a mix of neotraditional and black work. I always try to show my style in every tattoo and both, neotraditional and black work, give me less limitations than other styles.
I like to use different kinds of lines, textures and colours but always with balance because it is very important to adapt the tattoo to the human body.
4) DO YOU THINK THERE ARE CHALLENGES IN BEING A TATTOO ARTIST
From my point of view, the main challenge is to be able to judge your own tattoos so that you can become better instead of comparing your works with the ones done by another artist (especially now that you can see what everyone does on social media). That is why my goals are to do my best and run my own tattoo studio in the future.
5) FAVOURITE THING ABOUT BEING A TATTOO ARTIST?
Doing what you love for a living is one of the best things you can experience and I do like my job. Tattooing has given me the opportunity to travel and attend tattoo conventions around the world as well as the chance to meet a lot of people.
